Since we go onto LinkedIn to market ourselves and connect with people, it only makes sense to complete our profile and put your photo in.  If you don’t, people will either glance right over you and ignore you or assume that you have something to hide.  I have seen people refuse to connect and correspond with profiles without photos.   It is simple to do.  Just follow these few steps.

First have your photo prepared in an appropriate format (JPG, GIF, PNG) in a folder where you will be able to find it.  It should be a photo of yourself and preferably not your company logo, a group of people or something inanimate.  People connect best with Edit a photo on LinkedInpeople not things.

Then from the menu bar at the top of the LinkedIn screen, click on Profile, then Edit Profile.  Where the photo image would be, click on Edit or Add Photo (depending on whether your photo is evident or not).

Upload the Photo from the file.  You can restrict the photo availability to your Connections but if you are trying to connect, you may as well make it available to Everyone.  I am aware of people’s concerns about security online, but making unnecessary small changes like this are unlikely to protect your security to any discernible level and only frustrate your attempts to be found online.

Upload a photo to LinkedIn profileOnce your photo is uploaded and you Save your settings, continue with the rest of your Profile so that you can insert appropriate keywords and be found by people seeking your skills, as well as make your skills known to your existing network.

Any questions, drop us an email.  And if you would like to connect with me on LinkedIn, my profile is here, and my email address is from the email link above.   Happy connecting.
